Subaru companion app

The SUBARU STARLINK™  app is a utility companion software to the car brand Subaru. By installing this program on your mobile device and connecting it to your vehicle via Bluetooth, you can access a suite of Starlink cloud-based applications on your in-vehicle multimedia touchscreen. With this, you can open a GPS, read the news, and listen to music without touching your phone.

However, the SUBARU STARLINK™  app is different from the MySubaru app. It only allows access to applications and does not have functionalities, such as starting the engine via phone, vehicle diagnostics, and locking/unlocking doors.

How do you use the SUBARU STARLINK™ app?

SUBARU STARLINK™  is an app to have when you want to get the most out of your new Subaru car. At least that's what the description says. As mentioned, with it, you can access cloud apps on your in-vehicle multimedia touchscreen. The apps include a GPS, a calendar, a news app, a weather app, and a music player. Once downloaded and installed, you can access all of these in one simple app.

Each app is configurable, and you can set it up the same way you would a standalone program. Upon launching, click on the tool that you want to customize, then tap the configure button. The app will then show you various options, such as your location, syncing your calendar to your Google account, and personalizing your preferred news sources.

After configuration, pair your smartphone to your vehicle. Make sure that both the app and your car are running. Then, on your Starlink dashboard, press the phone icon. A popup message will appear with the option to add a device. SUBARU STARLINK™  uses a Bluetooth connection to pair up your car to your phone. With this, ensure that you have it turned on before you start pairing.

Is the app good?

Based on the description, the SUBARU STARLINK™ is a tool worth trying. However, its performance says otherwise. For one, pairing your phone to your car is difficult. Most of the time, the app fails to connect. The apps are also slow, unintuitive, and unattractive that you are better off using similar, standalone software. The only good thing about this is that you can access the app from your car. That is if it actually connects.
